About Me
My name is Liz. I am a retired educator with 30 years of experience dedicated to shaping young minds and advocating for the integration of mental health and wellness into education. Throughout my career, I was a passionate advocate for creating supportive learning environments that addressed both the educational and emotional needs of students. Family is at the heart of my life. As a happily married person and a proud grandparent of five, I cherish the moments spent with my loved ones and deeply appreciate the joy and support they bring. I prioritize my well-being by leading an active lifestyle, embracing the benefits of staying fit through tennis, hiking, strength training, yoga, walking, rebounding, playing pickleball and basketball, and exploring the outdoors. I express my love through baking and gardening, finding joy in sharing food with others. I am a lifelong learner, currently diving into the world of photography (most of the pictures you see here are mine). I love capturing the beauty of nature and the places that I visit, through unique photography perspectives. Writing is another passion of mine, and I am currently working on my first book, #breakingdams. For me, these activities are more than just hobbies—they are vital to maintaining my physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. I remain committed to promoting mental health and wellness, drawing on my experience to inspire others to lead a balanced and fulfilling life.
My Approach
Life is a journey with no destination, and the more resources we have, the better equipped we are to face its challenges. My mission is to help others find joy and fulfillment, even in the midst of significant difficulties. I specialize in supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and life transitions, but I welcome anyone feeling stuck or overwhelmed in any area of their life. My approach is holistic, integrating the mind, body, and spirit.
As a wellness-focused, person-centered therapist, I draw from a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help individuals process and heal from trauma.
Some individuals have experienced "big" T traumas—those life-altering, severe events—while others have faced "little" t traumas, which may be more subtle or chronic, but still have a significant emotional impact. Both types of trauma can lead to profound social, emotional and psychological challenges, and both deserve attention and care in therapy.
I am passionate about creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and supported, fostering a safe space for vulnerability, healing, and personal growth. Learn more about EMDR here.
